USES:

Itraconazole inhibits fungal growth by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membrane. Under normal circumstances, lanosterol, the precursor of ergosterol, was metabolized 14 benzode-demethylated under the catalysis of fungal cytochrome P450. Itraconazole interacts with fungal CYP at the basal junction, blocks its methylation, and allows lanosterol and 14 leben-methyl sterol to accumulate on the cell membrane. The impaired synthesis of ergosterol leads to the permeability change of the cell membrane of the fungus, which leads to the inhibition of the enzyme activity on the cell membrane and the synthesis of chitosan.
