Pharmacological effects:
Despite the presence of amides in the chemical structure of octanoic cocaine salt, the plasma cholinesterase can be hydrolyzed in the same way as esterified local anesthetics, and can be used clinically to identify the effects of this esterase. Local anaesthesia efficiency is 22 ~ 25 times higher than that of procaine major, the duration is long, but the toxicity is 15 -- 20 times higher than that of procaine major, once the occurrence of poisoning, the rescue needs 4 -- 8 hours, can be reversed.
It is far more stable in tissues than procaine, so the anesthetic effect lasts longer (about 3 times as long as procaine).
Indications:
Suitable for epidural anesthesia and lumbar anesthesia. This product is easy to pass through the mucous membrane and is also used for surface anesthesia, but due to its excessive toxicity (about 15 times higher than procaine), it is rarely used for infiltration anesthesia.
