Pharmacological effects:
Levonorgestrel (LNG) is a fully synthesized potent progesterone, which is the optical active agent of racogonorgestrel. The activity of levonorgestrel is 1 times stronger than that of norethinnes, and about 100 times as strong as that of norethinnes. For this reason, the dose of enorgestrel can be halved and the adverse reactions reduced. Levonorgestrel mainly ACTS on the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, causing the peak of FSH and LH levels in the middle menstrual period to significantly reduce or disappear, and the ovaries do not ovulate. It has obvious anti-estrogen activity, which is about 10 times stronger than norethinnes, with almost no estrogen activity. It thickens the cervical mucus and prevents sperm from penetrating. The transformation of endometrium showed strong progesterone activity, which could make the endometrium thin, the endometrial epithelial cells were low columnar, and the secretion function was not good, which was not conducive to egg implantation. LNG also has certain androgen activity and protein assimilation, which can inhibit ovulation by oral or subcutaneous injection.
